My husband (he's around 6 foot, 200 lbs) just picked up an '05 Shadow Spirit 750 and says it feels tight on long rides. He's not looking for more speed but definitely wants better leg room. My brother forward controls or peg extenders. What mods can you suggest? Doing him the favor for posting here as he's a little not knowledgeable when it comes to forums like this (I'm part of a lot like cast iron and crocheting... everything). Thanks in advance. Anything will help, really.

Moving the foot controls forward is what he should be considering. ScootMods or TC Bros are the ones he should consider. They aren't too expensive but are lifesavers.

Hey have you looked into forward control kits specific to the Spirit 750? They can add 4–6 inches of legroom, and would he be open to a taller seat or handlebar risers for comfort?

try to look into an aftermarket seat. Some touring style seats can be designed to move the rider back an inch or two or be slightly taller, which can significantly open up the riding triangle (seat pegs handlebars)

My biggest complaint about my '09 Spirit was the rigid riding position I had to adopt. Prior bikes gave me several options to shift my weight or position, but the Shadow enforced one and only one comfortable position. Four years on, I've gotten rather used to it, but for sure next time I buy a bike, I'll want a more extensive road test to check that sort of thing. The controls are already "forward" enough; I'm thinking an aftermarket seat might help.
