Fuel tank upgrade and fitment

Anyone here have experience swapping or upgrading the fuel tank on a shadow? I've got an '03 VT750 and I'm looking into options for either a larger tank or something with a different shape, just for a bit more range and different look, I dont do too well with montony, main thing I'm trying to figure out right now is fitment, like how much wiggle room do we really have with mounting points and clearances around the frame and handlebars? I've seen a few listings for tanks off other shadows or even older CBs, but I'm not really sure what would actually bolts well and give me what I want
Also anything I should know about this mod please?

I've played around with swapping Shadow tanks. Tanks from early 2000s VT750 Aero models usually fit right onto your '03 without major headaches. Some custom bobber tanks, like those from TJ Brutal Customs, can also fit, but make sure they don't hit the bars or seat.

CB or other Shadow tanks likely won't bolt on directly, they'll need mount adjustments.

What are you aiming for? More gas or just a different look? Knowing that helps find the perfect one for you.

Have you checked how much clearance you've got around the triple tree at full lock and under the seat rails? That'll help narrow down which donor tanks might fit without major fab work.

If you're going through all that work just for aesthetics and a bit more range, wouldn't it make more sense to just move on from the Shadow entirely, why not start with a platform that actually fits your vision out of the box?

@Pagblo Fair point, but not everyone wants to ditch a bike they already love just to chase a different look. Sometimes the fun is in the build and not just the result.

Not sure if this has been covered, but VT1100 tanks often fit VT750s with minor bracket modifications, more capacity too. Check frame tunnel width and petcock position. Main concerns are fuel line routing, clearance to airbox/carbs, and ensuring proper venting. You'll likely need to swap petcocks and possibly modify mounting tabs.
