Frame swap for my 2002 Shadow Spirit 1100

Sad story. I kind of wrecked my 2002 Shadow Spirit 1100. I need to figure out if frames from either 2001 or 2003 are a direct swap since I can't seem to find a 2002 in the market (on eBay and even on Facebook Marketplace). Would love to hear what years work if you've done a frame swap already.

Ah man, that really sucks! But hey, here's some good news, if you can find a frame from the 1999 to 2008 Shadow Spirit 1100 (that's the VT1100C), you should be able to make a direct swap. Just double-check that it's from a Spirit, not one of those Aero or Sabre models. Oh, and don't forget to take a look at the VIN and title situation, swapping frames usually comes with some paperwork to sort out. I really hope you get it back on the road soon

From what I've seen and heard in the garage crowd, the 2001 to 2003 frames should be a clean swap, check the mounting points, especially for the tank and electronics and hey yeah if you find a decent frame from those years, you should be able to bolt things over without much drama.

That's rough to hear about your Spirit, truly sorry!
I have the same info as @Blue.Tooth, the 2001 and 2003 are generally considered a direct swap with the 2002 because Honda didn't make significant frame changes during those years for that model.
I'm not sure about the other years @ShadowChaser mentioned so I can't really comment on that.
But I agree that you have to double-check the VIN compatibility and make sure all your existing components like the swingarm, engine mounts, and suspension line up perfectly.
All the best with the rebuild!

As identical as they may seem and they are, I'd still double checke the finer details to make sure you're not in for some custom fabrication work. Tank mounts, tabs, electrics, stuff like that. Make sure everything is identical before you make the swap. Don't get me wrong, it's not a massive problem things aren't the same, it just means you'll have some extra work.

That's too bad! As mentioned above, the frames from 2001 to 2003 are very similar, but you should check the tank mounts, bracket tabs, and wiring spots. Small differences can mean cutting or welding.
