DIY fix after losing exhaust cover

Lost my lower front exhaust heat shield on the road, and since Honda only sells it with the full muffler (which is way beyond my budget), Im just going to grind down the mounting tabs and try to polish the area. Its only cosmetics, especially after moving the pegs forward and down.

Yeah, as long as you're not planning on installing a sheald some time in the future, this is a good approach. To be honest, even if you do, it's relatively easy to add mounting tabs, so no sweat. Just make sure you treat the surface so that you don't wake up with a bucket of rust.

Makes sense. Once the pegs are moved, that area is barely noticeable anyway. Grinding the tabs and polishing it clean should look fine, no need buying a whole new muffler just for the shield.
