Cross-compatible bracket for VT700C?

I ride a 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre and recently started fixing up my dad's old VT700C. I'm stuck trying to locate the bracket that holds the air cleaner and mounts the air box lid. If anyone's got a spare or knows what might cross over from another model, I'd appreciate it.

I don't think its shared with many other models, but maybe something from a mid-'80s VT750 could work with a bit of tweaking. Do you still have the original air box?

I do, but it's missing the bracket and lid so it's tough to figure out how everything's supposed to line up. I'll look into the VT750 idea and try to track down some part diagrams for comparison. Do you know if that mid-'80s version used the same intake setup or if it had any changes in frame mounting? Hoping to get the bike breathing again before the end of next week. Thanks for the lead!

My friend had to hunt one down for my '85 a while back, check VT750 parts from around the same era; some of the mounting hardware is surprisingly similar.

Thanks for adding another confirmation about the VT750 parts. My original timeline to get the bike running was a little too ambitious, as I've been searching online marketplaces for a suitable donor part without much luck. I did find a few complete air box assemblies from that era but was hesitant to purchase one. Your post gives me the confidence to finally order one now that I know someone else made it work. Did your friend need to modify the bracket for fit? I'm going to buy the part I found online and will hopefully get my dad's bike put back together in the next few weeks.

Over the years I learned two things. First one is that you shouldn't rush these kinds of projects, better have it done right than chase some deadline. Second, if you can't find something you're looking for you can always make it. If you can't someone else can, so don't beat yourself up about not being to find the bracket.

I've taken things a bit slower since my last update and finally ordered a complete VT750 air box assembly with the bracket. It should get here early next week. Once I have the lid and filter sorted, I'll see how it fits. If it doesn't line up, I've already talked to a local fabricator who can help adjust the bracket or make a new one to fit the frame. I'm still hoping to get the VT700C running again before the end of the month but I'm not in a hurry. When you did your custom bracket, was it a full rebuild or just a reshaped mount? I'd like to hear what changes you had to make if I go that way. @OrangeSlice
